A dark red wine stained a couple of very visible teeth over the Fourth of July week-end. My smile became a real fright! I can’t praise this dentist enough. He fixed my bite which has been off for more than 3 years due to another dentist. I am so glad I found this dentist office. I’ve been lucky and have always managed to pick very good dentists, usually by referrals from friends, family or co-workers. However, with that said, Dr. Doughety and his incredible staff are hands down, BY FAR, the best Dentist I’ve ever had! He and his staff are professional, organized and TRULY care about each and every patient like you were one of their family members. I’ve now been going to him for over 10 years and would never even consider going anywhere else. I honestly think if I moved to New York, I would fly back to San Diego every 6 months for my dental appointment. That probably sounds crazy, but the fact is, he’s just THAT GOOD and it would be worth the expense and trip! Fortunately, I have no plans to ever move again, so I won’t have to worry about it. I have been going to Dr. Dougherty for many years and have received excellent care. Today I was distressed to hear a nasty, condescending remark made by Andrea and directed at one of the front office staff. It was truly uncalled for and very uncomfortable for those in the waiting room to overhear. The impressions given by the office staff, is very important and tend to color your opinion of the whole office. In spite of the embarrassing comment, the 2 front office women handled it very professionally. It must be difficult on them. More

Dr. Dougherty was my dentist in the early 90's to 1995 before I moved away from California. He did three gold onlays or inlays (I'm not sure of the difference) in back molars that have given me 20 years (so far!) of trouble free service. I have had problems with other traditional large fillings that were done by other dentists. These other amalgam fillings have discolored surrounding tooth and some have broken. Dr. Dougherty also extracted my four wisdom teeth. Dr. Dougherty is a dental artist and a caring and gentle practitioner. If I lived anywhere near San Diego, I'd still go to him. He is the BEST dentist I ever had and his dental skills stand the test of time. More

I have had a lot of dental work done over the years and haven't always had a great experience. Dr. Dougherty's office takes the time to go over the procedures and really fixes issues right the first time. You know you are in good hands and feel well taken care of. I highly recommend them! I returned to Dr. Dougherty and he was able to completely redo the other dentists work. That was 18 years ago, and I haven't had any problem since. I find his staff to be the best I have encountered in my lifetime, especially my hygenist Heidi. I would recommend his practice to everyone, but be prepared for La Jolla prices! More
